SAN DIEGO – A recent proposal by California electric companies would break up monthly charges by the amount of energy used and the income of the household.
Currently, SDG&E customers pay for how much electricity their household uses, and how that electricity is delivered. Prices vary month-to-month on both of these costs.

SDGE After SDGE tripled our power bill last winter and put a gun to our heads we shelled out the 25k for full solar. I told my wife that SDGE are going to get those rate fees back somewhere. I said they would create a mandatory solar panel usage tax.. voilà “equity tax”

SDGE I have solar that provides all my power needs. My bill is about $10/month (the minimum service charge I have to pay). Now I'd be on the hook for closer to 10x that...with SDG&E providing me no new benefit. This is a total ripoff and a bunch of communist garbage.

This is just for the delivery and are charged even if the meter is disconnected. There are numerous add on taxes, fees etc on top of this charge.

Fixed-rate, use as much as you want? What happens when electricity usage sky rockets in the summer when the A/C is left on 24/7? I’m sure a lot of bills were MUCH higher than $128/mo. in the summer. 😂😂🤡

Honestly, what did people think would happen? The power companies can't lose income from people with solar. How will they pay for all of their raises. It's the same with the electric vehicles. The milage tax will be here eventually...

They claimed this was to make it simplified but it seems to be designed to make them more money. Why do homeowners who produce extra solar power have to pay for the privilege of selling PG&E energy that they turn around& sell for massive profits?
