Allkem, the rebadged Orocobre, is poised to unveil a merger agreement with NYSE-listed Livent.

ASX-listed Allkem, the lithium producer formerly known as Orocobre, has struck a $US10 billion merger agreement with New York Stock Exchange-listed Livent Corp, Street Talk can reveal.

The $8.2 billion company has been drilling at Mt Cattlin, near the town of Ravensthorpe, as it looks to extend the mine life beyond 2025.Livent, which last year flagged plans to expand offshore to meet surging demand, earlier this month raised its annual forecast after reporting better-than-expected quarterly profit.
