Alberta’s Danielle Smith says she’s suspended on Facebook. The company says she’s not

EDMONTON — Alberta Premier Danielle Smith kicked up a stink this week over issues of free speech after she said her Facebook account had been inexplicably suspended for a few days.

“Big tech and government censorship is becoming a danger to free speech around the world,” Smith protested Wednesday, in a tweet tagging Twitter owner Elon Musk and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. “There were no restrictions placed on the premier’s page,” the spokesperson said in an email to the Star.A couple of hours after Meta put out its statement rebuffing the premier’s claims, SmithSmith included a screenshot of what she says she saw when she got the suspension message, adding “I hope this is the last time it happens.”
