A bus company has been slapped with several safety-related notices by NSW Police after one of its buses crashed in the Hunter Valley on Sunday night, leaving ten passengers dead and 25 injured.

Wyong and East Gresford depots were subjected to an audit with Crash Investigations Unit officers, NSW Police Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and National Heavy Vehicle investigators and inspectors in attendance.“The joint operation involved a comprehensive audit of documentation relating to fatigue, driver management, vehicle servicing and maintenance records, and safety management systems,” a police statement said.

“As a result, the operator was issued two infringement notices for permit use of heavy vehicle contravene standard and use heavy vehicle with defective seating.” Ten people were killed and the other 25 passengers were injured while the bus driver, Brett Button, 58, was charged.Thirteen people remain in hospital in a stable condition as of Thursday.

It comes after Central Coast’s Green Point Christian College raised “concerns” about the driver on Wednesday, revealing he had recently driven Year 5 students to Bathurst on an overnight excursion.
