globepolitics I met Mr Wilson around 30 years ago when he toured my office at what was then named MBB Helicopters. He was a good guy -- very personable and seemingly very interested in what we did in our Flight Test department. His contributions to Canada were significant. This is a real loss.

globepolitics Very sorry to hear. I recall working with Michael Wilson when CFIB was fighting the introduction of the GST. We didn't agree on that one, but he was a class act who went on to do great work as Cdn Ambassador to the US & on mental health issues among many other things.

globepolitics Michael Wilson was a good finance minister, but repeatedly refused to allow a tax rate for ethanol equivalent to that for other alternative fuels (like methanol). Met several times, but no deal. Don Mazankowski fixed this quickly when he became the finance minister after Wilson.
