A business owner ditching the office explains how he came to trust his employees to work remotely so he could save money on rent

saying that they'd likely leave their current roles if they were required to come back in five days a week.published in the research journal Organizational Dynamics by professors from Pepperdine University, University of New Hampshire, Simon Fraser University, and University of Calgary concludes that"changing the work arrangement alone is not a panacea for solving an organization's problems.

Workers will take breaks whether they're in the office or at home. But being able to run out and get groceries or take a midday workout while working from home could be more valuable to employees than just scrolling through their phones during an in-office break. And that could pay off for both firms and workers.

But Chris Bailey, who's written three books on productivity, told Insider that, when it comes to both work and life,"productivity is really about one thing and one thing only — and that is intentionality." If you're intentional in what you want to get done and accomplish that, you're productive in Bailey's eyes; that could extend to taking a midday shower and letting your mind wander to what needs to get done, setting you up for the rest of the day.
