Kenneth Long stole the money between 2016 and 2023 in an effort to fund his gambling habit, according to the Berks County District Attorney's Office.

A man entrusted with taking care of money for a Pennsylvania volunteer fire company is now accused of stealing nearly $1 million from the department.

Long, who was treasurer for the department, was interviewed by detectives in February and admitted to taking the money and forging signatures of other people in the department on fake treasurer’s reports to hide his theft, according to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.
