New figures reveal increase in the average weekly earnings of Irish workers

How does your pay packet compare? The average weekly earnings for Irish workers was €761.64 in the fourth quarter of 2018, according to preliminary estimates of the Earnings and Labour Costs Quarterly release, published by the Central Statistics Office on Monday . The figure represents an increase of 4.1% from the same period in 2017 and an increase of a little under €20 per week from the figure from the third quarter of last year. Average hourly earnings increased from €22.

46 in the fourth quarter of last year; all figures quoted in the report represent gross amounts before deductions for PRSI, tax and other levies. The average weekly earnings for employees in the public sector increased to €966.40 in the fourth quarter of 2018, while average weekly earnings increased in all 13 sectors of the economy in the same period. The highest average weekly earnings in Ireland were in the Information and Communication sector with a weekly figure of €1,175.

A bump up to the national average in my weekly wage would be nice. I could save more while paying my bills, without the need for such a harsh weekly budget needed to sustain 2 people.
