Plans by SWG3 to expand its venue to make use of its existing yard area at Eastvale Place, transforming it into a new event space were given the green light by Glasgow City Council.

Plans to expand SWG3 by adding new artists workshops, an event space, restaurant and market have been approved by Glasgow City Council's planning committee.

The proposals by the popular west end gig venue were given the green light on September 13. It will see SWG3 use their existing yard area at Eastvale Place as an event space on an occasional basis. The plans also include external alterations to the existing building, car parking provision and extending the time limit for use of their yard for licensed events. The council has confirmed the proposals have been approved, with the conditions in place on noise levels and the disruption to residents living in the area.

"We’ll transform this pocket of the city into a characterful place to work, live and visit. We will play our part in the recovery of our city post Covid-19."
