Police are treating it as a 'race-motivated hate crime'

The Syrian owner of a shop on Donegall road has said he will have to relocate due to ongoing attacks against his business.

“The shop is damaged now, and even if it wasn’t we will not stay here in this area. It was a risk for my business and the second time a risk for my life. “We want to find help from other communities, south, east or west or any other place, a safe place to reopen again.“I worked for seven years in Belfast as a taxi driver and I saved my money just to open a business. And before we open everything is damaged.A statement from the PSNI said they were appealing for witnesses following the arson attack on Sunday.

“Our colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service have since confirmed that the fire was started deliberately and as such we are treating this as arson with intent to endanger life.”
