BACOLOD CITY – A fire destroyed the Marcelo Public Market in the upland part of Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Saturday night, September 23.

A FIRE razed a public market in Sitio Riverside, Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Saturday, September 23.

Fire Officer 3 Maria Krisna Hugo, ground commander of the Calatrava Municipal Fire Station, who led the fire response, said the blaze left an estimated P2.4 million worth of damage, covering a land area of about 200-square meters. The Bureau of Fire Protection received a fire call around 7:30 p.m. The fire was raised to second alarm as it gobbled the structure made of light materials.Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of fire.
