The NSW government moves to restrict holiday letting in most areas of the Byron Shire to just 60 days per year.

Byron Bay is one of many communities struggling to juggle the mix of holiday and permanent rentals.abc.net.au/news/byron-bay-short-term-holiday-cap-approved/102900176The state government will allow the Byron Shire Council on the NSW north coast to tighten its restrictions on short-stay accommodation in a bid to alleviate serious housing pressures.

Byron Mayor Michael Lyon is pleased that the issue of housing availability has been recognised by the government. Mr Lyon said he understood that high-tourism precincts in Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads may be exempt from the new cap.
