A man has been injured and workers have been evacuated after the crane arm failed at the inner Sydney construction site.

A man in his 30s is being treated for back injuries after the arm of a crane failed and it collapsed at the new Sydney Fish Market construction site.

Emergency services were called to the site on Bridge Road in Glebe about 12.30pm on Thursday. All workers have been evacuated from the site.The injured man is being treated by paramedics and will be transported to hospital.The site will be locked down for the rest of the day while Safework NSW conducts an investigation.A man suffered back injuries when the crane collapsed.“Traffic is slow both ways and there are a lot of pedestrians in the area.
