The Livestock Collective Director Steven Bolt says there has been an “oversupply of sheep” making their way onto the market. Mr Bolt said the cause has been through the federal government’s decision to “announce the phase-out of the live export trade” for Western Australia. “Live export is very important to the WA industry,” he told Sky News Australia. “There’s been a total loss of confidence by growers in Western Australia. “As a result, we’ve seen just flooding of the market with growers looking to reduce their risk and move out of the sheep industry.”
