Marks & Spencers have submitted plans to Glasgow City Council which will take the company one step closer to opening a new store in the Southside.

The retailer has put in place a proposal to put up an illuminated sign as well as a bus stop sign on the ground floor of a Battlefield venue located on Grange Road, which they are looking to turn into a foodhall. It comes as part of the new Victoria development in the area which will see flats built on the site of the former Victoria Infirmary.

The local authority received the plans on August 10 and they were validated on August 22, however, a final decision is expected to be made by councillors on October 20.READ MORE: Police race to Ibrox Stadium following 'disturbance' after Rangers gameSign up to our daily Glasgow Live newsletter here to receive news and features direct to your inbox.
