Images that show the Market Theatre building in a bad state of repair are misleading, theatre spokesperson Sershan Naidoo says.

The theatre has stated they will be sticking to their released statement before the outcome of the current hearing.The statement read,"The Council of The Market Theatre Foundation hereby announces the commencement of the process of hearings based on the investigation undertaken by the Department of Arts and Culture into allegations of lapses in governance and mismanagement at the MTF.

"It will be business as usual at the MTF during the hearings. While the five members of staff undergoing the process are on special leave to prepare for their hearings, Mr Lekgetho Makola will serve as Acting CEO. "The Council of the MTF will not be engaging further on the matter but will issue a statement at the conclusion of the process."
