U.S. stock indexes opened higher on Tuesday as Treasury yields fell on its first trading session following Columbus Day, after geopolitical uncertainty around the Israel-Hamas conflict rattled investors. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury TMUBMUSD10Y, 4.698% lost about 11 basis points at 4.697%, while the 2-year Treasury yield TMUBMUSD02Y, 4.

995% was off 8 basis points at 4.991%, as investors closely watched events in the Middle East to gauge the risk to the financial markets. The decline in yields gave stock indexes a lift on Tuesday morning. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.20% was rising 99 points, or 0.3%, to 33,699, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.22% was gaining 0.2% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.20% was up 0.1%.
