According to the city, they have seen an increase in applicants since August, giving them an optimistic outlook for future staffing.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The City of Cleveland will be announcing a ‘historic’ investment in their police department Friday morning.

Mayor Justin Bibb, along with Cleveland Police leadership, Fraternal Order of Police, and Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association will be announcing the administration’s RISE initiative investment at 11 a.m. Cleveland Police Union President Follmer tells 19 News there will be a 25% increase in pay for officers who have served for over five years, along with a 16% pay raise for officers who have served under five years.The announcement comes days after the city’s increase in officer applications since August.Since announcing major pay increases and sign-on bonuses on August 23, there has been a 45% increase of applications, according to the city.
