What’s driving the market? U.S. benchmarks snapped a five-day skid Monday, but premarket trade Tuesday pointed to a subdued start as investors braced for coming data and geopolitics that could fuel volatility in domestic markets. Although, the Federal Aviation Authority declared the 737 Max models airworthy, more regulators have decided to ground the planes, including those in Australia, Singapore and Latin America, according to the Wall Street Journal.
What other data and speakers are in focus? Federal Reserve Gov. Lael Brainard is slated to speak at 8:45 a.m. at the National Community Reinvestment Coalition’s Just Economy Conference in Washington, D.C. Shares of Tesla Inc. TSLA, +2.39% were active after lawyers for the electric-maker’s CEO Elon Musk, defended a recent tweet from the outspoken executive, accusing the Securities and Exchange Commission of overreaching and infringing on Musk’s right of free speech. Shares in the company fell 1.5% premarket.
