The White House has dropped plans to nominate a veteran lawyer to serve on a key federal energy panel after pressure from Energy Secretary Rick Perry and major coal companies headed by allies of President Donald Trump, two people familiar with the effort told POLITICO.last month that David Hill, who served as the Energy Department's general counsel under President George W. Bush, was the likely candidate for a seat on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

He had been expected to fill the vacancy created by the death of former FERC Chairman Kevin McIntyre in January. But the parallel efforts by Perry and the coal industry proved to be more persuasive with Trump than his chief economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, who was lobbying for Hill.

He was qualified, experienced and was against coal, I knew there was a reason he wouldn't get the job. 🙄

It’s ok coal is dead and they know it

For heavens sake, don't stand in the way of government handouts to business!

Coal is a dinosaur and needs to go aware. It is a major polluter, causes health issues, and is more expensive than other options. Replace coal with natural gas or better yet, green energy.
