Load shedding will hit data prices, cellphone companies warn | BISouthAfrica

Load shedding will limit their ability to cut data prices, cellular operators warn.

Stage 4 load shedding places additional strain on towers as batteries are increasingly unable to recharge before load shedding returns. This as operators spend millions on emergency power supplies and security for cellular towers across the country. “[Load shedding] will significantly impact our ability to drive the costs of data down, as our underlying costs will be higher,” Rain spokesperson Khaya Dlanga told Business Insider South Africa. The country’s largest cellular provider, Vodacom, said various input costs, including the emergency electricity to supply to cellular towers, will impact its data pricing.

DeborahMillsS BISouthAfrica This is Bullshit... data doesn’t get more expensive due to power cuts. Networks can’t expect Consumers to pay for Government mistakes.. take it up with them..

BISouthAfrica I understand that a company’s purpose is to make money but keep in mind that prostitutes are the only people who make money by fucking everyone else

BISouthAfrica Next they'll be increasing the price of candles and matchsticks 😩😩😩😩

BISouthAfrica How? I cant see the link between load shedding and price of data Can someone enlighten me? Vodacom MTNza CellC

BISouthAfrica Haibo I want out of this country

BISouthAfrica The ANC really turned SA into a Woolworths Republic

BISouthAfrica Ai jah neh 🤐

BISouthAfrica And yet many African countries who dont have steady electricity (i.e are in a perpetual state of loadshedding) still have much lower data prices than SA

BISouthAfrica It's already taking a toll on service providers.

BISouthAfrica Data ingena kuphi kuloadshedding, maybe thina we should shed data sibone what’s going to happen

BISouthAfrica cant it hit voice prices rather?

BISouthAfrica What a great excuse by cell pho e service providers to overcharge even more on data! Incredible! Be ashamed, very ashamed to pray on the victims!

BISouthAfrica What have data price to do with load shedding?

BISouthAfrica Here we go again money money money.

BISouthAfrica This is Satan’s work

BISouthAfrica Load shedding e vaya le network manje why are we suffering?

BISouthAfrica Will jst stop buying data

BISouthAfrica The ANC leads

BISouthAfrica Dont talk kak

mduie_ BISouthAfrica Nokx_Mnisi tla o bone

BISouthAfrica Please explain?

BISouthAfrica 😳😳😡😡😡

BISouthAfrica Load shedding how does it affect Data?

BISouthAfrica Cellphone companies joining the rip off party now Almost no signal with load shedding ..will this new rip off master plan only be when it's load shedding? Probably not ..thiefs!!

BISouthAfrica As we start buying rain sim cards

BISouthAfrica Byang when we don't even have network when there is load shedding? Or is that the reason?

BISouthAfrica So another excuse to screw the customers on call and data cost! Wonder what ICASA will say about this?

BISouthAfrica Yhoo!!!

BISouthAfrica All ready the data price in SA are expensive in world so what damn hit price is that

BISouthAfrica Hayi!

BISouthAfrica This crooks network companies are opportunists

BISouthAfrica Banyela...

BISouthAfrica Wtf?

BISouthAfrica Whays happening to our lovely country, our government still thinks its a world class African state cause they live in houses with under floor heating while everyone else is trying to make pap on a fire, this is forced poverty, You took my human right away.

BISouthAfrica RukahsUrama

BISouthAfrica And yet Cell C's data and phone signal don't work at all during load shedding times

BISouthAfrica Hayibo bangena phi?, baxhumaphi..

BISouthAfrica So what was the reason for high data prices when there was no load shedding? They must respect us

BISouthAfrica Prices were cut? Networks can cut prices? Limit their ability?

BISouthAfrica Watch Vodacom make us pay R200 for 1GB. 😭

BISouthAfrica Heh bathong lena

BISouthAfrica Now i believe that theres an agenda .. there is a bigger ploy t play here... a country that leaks billions in corruption cant supply power first they cut out power, power then connects to the cutting of water, water turns to communication... whats next, food ask yourself

BISouthAfrica NoChill4D come read this ..

BISouthAfrica Njani manje😂🤣

BISouthAfrica Haai these crooks are taking chances now

BTM_Khalifa BISouthAfrica They found an excuse 😂😂😂

BISouthAfrica I have noted the silence from SACP & COSATU around this load shedding saga....

BISouthAfrica But connection is bad during loadshedding. What exactly would we be paying for?

Mtamerri BISouthAfrica Wait, what happened to the same data prices when the load shedding was beaten a few years ago? Siyanyelwa la. No actually siyanyiswa nje deliberately.

BISouthAfrica This is a robbery... Stop it

BISouthAfrica Yooh hai ANC

BISouthAfrica Oh really Been hitting us all hard always

BISouthAfrica They are looking for excuses to lower data prices

BISouthAfrica It's a conspiracy between Eskom and the Cell Companies, Eskom will get a cut of the additional fees earned 😄

BISouthAfrica How?

BISouthAfrica We are already paying high prices for data compared to any semi-developed country in the world, and now, the networks are threatening us like this?

BISouthAfrica Should they implement this, ICASA must then be investigated for Collussion. The fact that data prices dropping has taken so long to finalize shows that they are the problem as the Regulator. We might have a boycott on our hands. Any provider who does not drop prices, must pay.

BISouthAfrica This is when you know this industry is monopolised and UNREGULATED. They have the same challenges in other countries but are charging LESS THAN IN SA, so dont talk nonsense. When even cellphone companies think we are stupid anc voters. You have been ROBBING US for years. 🤫🤫🤫

BISouthAfrica Aaay suka thathani logesi wenu mngqundu yenu.

CallMeNjebs BISouthAfrica So they are using loadshedding to rip us off manje?

BISouthAfrica How is that even possible? What the also generate data via coal? Data company are scrupulous.

BISouthAfrica Vodacom hired security and their security officers were robbed and tied up. Find where the batteries are being sold to and stop the crime maybe 🤷🏻‍♀️

BISouthAfrica Oh come on, don’t fu*% around yaz😡😡😡

BISouthAfrica Siyanyeleka lakhaya stru😠

BISouthAfrica They're crazy because whenever there's load shedding I lose connection.

BISouthAfrica

BISouthAfrica What?!

BISouthAfrica Lol that would be stage 5🤣🤣

BISouthAfrica They are now taking chances with us on another level

BISouthAfrica Huh!

BISouthAfrica Opportunists!!

BISouthAfrica Bull shit, something has to be done to fix this country

BISouthAfrica Yeah, they don't want to suffer like the rest of us, they'll simple raise the prices. put the burden on us.

BISouthAfrica The network infrastructure is also taking massive strain due to the constant power outages. Maybe if South Africans stopped voting for those responsible for these outages, we wouldn't be here. Enjoy f*kol data

BISouthAfrica Kunyiwa everywhere like that guy that shat all over the bathroom 😭😭😭

BISouthAfrica People what is going. How is load shedding affecting even data? No something's not right here I swear

BISouthAfrica Kanjankuhlanganaphi Ayi asifundile thina asi understand

BISouthAfrica How? Why?

BISouthAfrica There are more than 8 cellphone network providers in Nigeria, the worst country in Africa, yet these cellphone companies are Fighting each other for the cheapest data price to win customers majority network. The government must allow cellphone companies from Nigeria to come in.

BISouthAfrica Maybe we shouldn't have electricity once and for all and see if the very data will be bought😔😔nx

BISouthAfrica Vodacom Users .. Does Vodacom update its users with new customer services numbers, emergency numbers, rica numbers, new sim card activation numbers, new sim card data sizes or secure sim card types?
