Ibec chief executive, Danny McCoy has thanked the outgoing Taoiseach for what he described as his"enormous contribution to public service".Mr McCoy particularly thanked Mr Varadkar for his engagement on issues of importance to the business community, the shared mutual interest in the economic prosperity of our country and the role business plays in the social fabric of our society.

"During his tenure as Taoiseach some of his most significant achievements included successfully overseeing Ireland's response to Covid and ensuring effective supports to businesses and employees were put in place to minimise the social and economic impact." "Overall, his economic management of the country has helped ensure Ireland’s success as one of the most productive and competitive economies in the world," he concluded.
