To get to a family wedding, a woman, 94, hires a van. It never shows up. But the bill does.

Devora Rubin and her daughter Dana Rubin at a 2023 wedding. They almost didn't make it because a pre-paid medical wan didn't show up. And the mother can't get her money back because of Citibank's credit card dispute policy.,Imagine this: You are Devora Rubin, the 94-year-old matriarch of your family, and your granddaughter is getting married at a black-tie wedding at the Hotel Crescent Court.

Finally, Dana makes an executive decision. She helps her mom slide into the backseat of her mom’s sedan with the straight leg propped over the front passenger seat. Dana takes off, speeding down North Central Expressway. When they arrive, the family is outside the hotel waiting for them.Not to worry. Dana paid with her mom’s credit card. She can call the company and get a full refund.

She goes the dispute route. After looking into it, a Citibank rep tells her the bank sides with the merchant, saying he produced evidence of a credit card receipt. The rep tells Dana that once a merchant provides proof of sale, the merchant wins.Dana cries foul. She calls the dispute resolution center a misnamed joke that favors the merchant over the credit card holder. After all, she has provided evidence of the no-show.
