TORONTO — Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Board has announced it is now accepting entries for the WSIB’s 2024 Small Business Health and Safety Leadership Award.

Under the program, independently owned and operated businesses with fewer than 50 employees can win up to $10,000 by preparing a submission describing how they’ve made their workplace safer over the past year. The first-place prize is $10,000, with the second-place finisher receiving $6,000 and third place $4,000.

Last year, 197 businesses applied. Judging criteria includes performance in safety culture and leadership, implementation of safety programs or initiatives, communications and employee involvement in health and safety.
