Tuesday evening’s Montgomery City Council meeting was filled to capacity and saw Mayor Reed giving a lengthy presentation on crime and potential solutions.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - That presentation included a $6 million dollar proposal for a community violence intervention program that he claims has been effective in other major cities.

He says one example of bad legislation is the permitless carry bill, which went into effect in 2023. The law states anyone 19 years or older that is legally permitted to carry a weapon doesn’t need a permit, background check, or safety training to carry a handgun.
