A metal beam reportedly fell off a forklift and onto the worker, authorities said.

on Cedar Avenue in Middlesex at 7:17 a.m. and found the worker, Jimmy Fernando Parrales Mora, 46, of North Plainfield, unresponsive at the site, according to a statement from the Middlesex Borough Police Department.

Mora was pronounced dead at the scene. A metal beam had fallen and struck him while he was working, the department said. “The forklift was transporting the beam, and was helping guide the beam,” Middlesex Borough Police Detective Sgt. Sean Flanagan told NJ Advance Media. “A strap that was holding the beam then broke, at which point the beam fell and struck .”
