With the slew of layoffs at large tech companies in recent months, there are thousands of seasoned and emerging tech folks looking for new gigs. The startups and mid-sized tech companies that are still able to hire are likely excited about the possibility of hiring former big leaguers to help grow their businesses—but some people might be entering new sectors of tech which likely will require them to upskill their current skill set.

Tech companies need more skilled talent than ever before, so why not encourage reskilling and upskilling from an existing talent pool? Employees need to see that there is a path for growth and progression within the organization, both in terms of hands-on skills and personal skills, too. If a company is facilitating that journey with in-house training, external courses and even cross-department mentorship and brainstorming can be highly effective.Whether you're in or out of the office, culture begins at the top. That means from the C-suite down, there needs to be an emphasis on your core values.
