ILOILO CITY – An ongoing art exhibit looks into the collective memory of what would become the new business district of Iloilo City.

The exhibit Where the Tides Flow focuses on the evolving landscape of three barangays in Mandurriao District which has seen gradual physical transformation over a span of a decade-and-a half.

Varied works – paintings, photographs, mixed media, and installation pieces – at Thrive Art Gallery of Ayala Atria Park exudes the personal albeit communal viewpoint into the evolution of Barangays San Rafael, Airport, and Tabucan.

Where the Tides Flow is a timely exhibition, especially with the recent demolition of the Iloilo Central Market. The exhibition also opens discussion on the impact of gentrification in Iloilo, balancing development and preserving both tangible and intangible heritage of Ilonggos.
