Motorists are being targeted by increasingly elaborate scams out to steal personal information and money

Social media users on both Facebook and Instagram are being warned to watch out after a string of malicious posts which could cost them money. Consumer champion Which? warned that scam adverts are claiming motorists are owed compensation through mis-sold car finance.

According to Which?, one advert told users: "Let's get your money back! If you bought a car on PCP between 2010 and 2021 then you could be due a refund. Leave your details to find out if you qualify." Motorists are also being targeted through scam accounts on Instagram that claim to provide car leasing deals. However, these scammers are running under the guise of legitimate companies whose details were stolen from Companies House.
