A block of the Fraser Highway in Aldergrove was closed briefly by police Wednesday morning after the discovery of two explosive devices.
According to a Langley RCMP news release, police were called to a business between 272nd and 273rd streets after a report that “two devices resembling grenades” were found in a storage cabinet. As a precaution, the Explosive Disposal Unit was called to the scene, and as many as 10 surrounding businesses were evacuated.
A witness said police appeared focused on Alder Natural Foods, a health-food store on the south side of the street. Ben Faley, the owner of the business, told The Langley Advance Times that the incident appeared to be caused by a toy grenade atop a can of gasoline.
