Picosa Creek LLC News

Picosa Creek LLC, which has owned the ranch, filed for bankruptcy in May and July to stop foreclosure sales.

Former Major League Baseball player Brandon Belt’s company has purchased a 5,100-acre South Texas ranch that twice landed in bankruptcy in San Antonio in recent months. Belt’s 2019 BLT Investments LLC of Lufkin acquired the Picosa Creek Ranch in Eagle Pass for more than $9.4 million this month, Maverick County property records show. The ranch had been owned by Picosa Creek LLC, headed by Arp-based American State Bank owner Brandon T.

South Texas ranch owner grapples with financial woes — including over the East Texas bank he owns Steele and Belt are friends. One of Belt’s partners in 2019 BLT Investments is John Mark Lowery, a commercial banker at American State Bank. Lowery’s father is chairman of the bank. Belt, 36, a native of Nacogdoches, played 13 seasons in the major league as a first baseman and outfielder, all but one of them for the San Francisco Giants. With the Giants, he won World Series rings in 2012 and 2014.
