“The American people are fed up with illegal robocalls,” FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said. The agency aims to make it easier for phone companies to block them.

WASHINGTON—Responding to widespread consumer complaints, the Federal Communications Commission says it will take steps to give phone companies permission to block unwanted robocalls.

Americans get billions of unwanted phone calls annually, making it the No. 1 complaint received by the FCC. But carriers have long been wary of blocking robocalls for fear of breaking the regulator’s call-completion rules that require phone companies to make sure calls reach their intended recipient.

Is Verizon and other servers getting money for allowing robocalls? Why if I can pay $3 a mo. to stop them why is my server allowing it, period? FCC

AjitPaiFCC Do your job give rural Americans access to broadband, It's not difficult to block callers. That info that you don't understand would be no problem, but you refuse to make broadband nationwide.

I'm yet to see anyone suggest the easiest resolution to the vast majority of robocalls using spoofed caller ID info: require verification that caller ID matches the actual call origin. The ability for almost any user to modify their ID is a glaring flaw in the system.

He is also allowing the companies charge for that service if they choose. It's all about money with this little weasel. I'm sure there is a kickback somewhere.

_YvonneBurton The whole robot calls n harrassment comes from companies selling our personal info if we do any biz. Make it Illegal to sell user info. I can deal with ads, but not faceless corps selling info. tats is a violation of my intellectual property, ME! No compensations? Theft!

We get about 10 a day. It's become ridiculous. If I hear that recording from Google again telling me I need to update my listing..

I receive at least 2 robocalls during Monday to Friday. But at least they do not call on Saturdays and Sundays.
