Washington business leaders are pushing for renewed partnerships to combat organized retail theft.

An event called the King County Public Safety Summit on Organized Retail Crime attracted a large audience at the Microsoft campus in Redmond. Business owners expressed their desire for renewed partnerships to combat organized retail theft.

In the span of a single year, the state experienced $2.7 billion in retail theft, according to the Retail Industry Leaders Association , which is the second highest in the nation per capita. That is driving a new call to collaborate to address this complex issue head-on. Local prosecutors have handled cases of organized retail theft that can cause hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses for a single local business, and the problem is widespread.
