A petition has been launched to address the cancellation of a late-night bus service in Washington D.C., which significantly impacts service industry workers relying on safe transportation between 12:00 am and 4:00 am.

by Lyft/Lyft Shared, following the addition of 14 new 24/7 bus routes last year. While the additional bus services might help some,

We are concerned with how and why this decision was made, as it puts workers at greater risk for late-night violence, particularly during the hours when crime is more common and we are trying to get home safely.on behalf of service industry workers to open up a conversation about safe late-night transportation. I’ll also be attending the WMATA board meeting on October 24th to discuss our concerns. Below is the petition I created, along with WMATA’s statement on canceling the program.
