Another suspect believed to be part of an alleged diamond investment scam has been arrested. This brings the total number of those arrested in the matter to nine, following a prosecution-guided multi-disciplinary operation led by the Hawks in the Northern Cape.The syndicate is alleged to be involved in dealing with unpolished diamonds and fraud.
The suspected mastermind allegedly advertised unpolished diamonds on social media and invited potential investors to invest in his alleged diamond dealing business, with a promise of a lucrative return which never materialized. Hawks Spokesperson, Philani Nkwalase, says the suspects are a married couple with the husband being the suspected mastermind working with his wife.
