Middle Arm News

Nt Government,Environmental Protection Authority,EPA

The NT government has pushed back the timeline for its planned Middle Arm industrial hub, after federal government body Infrastructure Australia rejected its business case.

A federal government infrastructure body has rejected the NT government's business case for the proposed Middle Arm project and asked for further work to be done on it.

The federal government's promised $1.5 billion contribution towards the project must be approved by its Infrastructure Australia body to go ahead. The NT Environment Protection Authority has recently extended its deadline for the NT government to submit an environment impact statement proposal by two years, from October 2024 to October 2026, to give it more time to draw up.

"We've had some delays dealing with the federal government on the environmental assessments and sadly that's taken longer than what it should have," Mr Yan said.
