Aiming to address the dearth of Japanese restomods on American soil, Built by Legends creates 650-hp Nissan GT-Rs.

Built by Legends was founded in 2019 to create restomods out of the legendary 1989 to 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R in its R32, R33, and R34 variants. The Skyline’s 2.8-liter engine originally produced around 280 hp, but massaged by BBL with its tuner partner Mine’s 650 twin-turbo horsepower is on tap. These GT-Rs are all right-hand drive and were never sold in the US as new cars. All five of the BBL Skylines completed since 2021 were imported and have found US customers.

”At the SEMA show in Las Vegas this November, BBL showed a Bayside Blue R34 GT-R, the second built. Kuji praised it as “a spectacular urban street fighter prized for its nimble handling, perfectly balanced power, and lightweight engineering.” Mine’s MB7 engine uses a 24U N1 block and a six-speed, heavy-duty Getrag manual transmission. Other specs include Mine’s VX-ROM ECU system, carbon air intake duct and fuel delivery pipe.
