Merger,Alfred Health,Kooweerup Health

Two Melbourne hospitals, Alfred Health and Peninsula Health as well as regional hospital Kooweerup Health will merge in a little over a year.

A Health Services Plan in August called for forced amalgamations of health services with one of the recommended mergers being a Bayside network, made up of Alfred Health, Peninsula Health and Kooweerup Regional Health.

The merger of the three hospitals is set to come into effect from January 1, 2026 and is described as an “important step in improving health outcomes” by Peninsula Health chief executive, Helen Cooper. “Access to specialist care will become easier and more seamless under Bayside Health,” Ms Cooper said.
