It's going to become offices

The Rylands building, an art deco jewel which has loomed over Market Street since 1932, is set to undergo a big transformation.

It was the department store’s flagship Manchester store until 2021, when the company went bust. Three years earlier, the building had been purchased by German company AM Alpha for £87 million. The first ten floors will be offices, with the extension accounting for the top four levels. In all, there will be 298,000 sq ft of floorspace — and Mike believes the additional extension is key to guaranteeing the building’s future.
