Fire Extinguisher Maintenance Company Owner Pleads Not Guilty to Forgery Charges
FORGERY,LAW,MALAYSIA

A Malaysian man was charged with using forged eFEiS fire extinguisher certificates, and pleaded not guilty in court.

A fire extinguisher maintenance company owner pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate's Court here today on four charges of submitting forged documents involving Electronic Fire Extinguisher Inspection System (eFEiS) certificates last December. Sha Arifin Mohammad Jamal, 33, entered the plea after the charges were read out separately before Magistrate Naidatul Athirah Azman.

According to three charges, the accused was charged with fraudulently using as genuine three documents containing different serial numbers, namely eFEiS fire extinguisher certificates, with the reason that the documents were forged. The offence was allegedly committed at a restaurant in Lorong Lagenda 8, Medaniaga Lagenda in Hutan Melintang at about 3.42 pm on December 31, 2024. For the fourth charge, the man was charged with committing a similar act at an entertainment centre in Lorong Lagenda 1, Medaniaga Lagenda in Hutan Melintang at about 1.45 pm on the same date. He was charged under Section 471 of the Penal Code and can be punished under Section 465 of the Penal Code, which provides a maximum prison sentence of two years, or a fine, or both, if found guilty. Deputy Public Prosecutor Izzuddin Fakri Hamdan offered bail of RM10,000 for three charges while the fourth charge was RM6,000. Lawyer from Yayasan Bantuan Guaman Kebangsaan (YBGK) M Saravanan, representing the accused, pleaded for a reduction in bail on the grounds that the bail amount offered was beyond his means as the accused had the responsibility of a wife and a child. The court then allowed bail of RM7,500 and RM2,500, each with one guarantor, and set February 12 as the mention date for the case and submission of documents
