JCPenney is merging with a retail company with household names to form a new one based in Plano.

JCPenney helps diverse, working families ‘Make it Count’ with emphasis on accessible fashion, a rewarding shopping experience and commitment to community and values. they have combined to form Catalyst Brands and will cover several brands: Aéropostale, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Lucky Brand and NauticaMarc Rosen, who has led JCPenney, is the CEO of Catalyst Brands.

It makes sense for the JCPenney and Sparc to combine forces, according to Sucharita Kodali, an analyst with Forrester. Still, the bigger issue is that these are all brands “that are in turnaround,” Kodali said in an email.There have been challenges for JCPenney that stretch back more than a decade. It survived a couple of radical transformation attemptsretail guru Ron Johnson, and then by Marvin Ellison, now the CEO at Lowe’s.

Three brand leaders will report to Rosen. Michelle Wlazlo, formerly chief merchandising and supply chain officer of JCPenney, has been promoted to brand CEO of JCPenney. Natalie Levy continues as brand CEO of Aéropostale, Lucky Brand and Nautica while Ken Ohashi will continue leading Brooks Brothers and has assumed responsibility of Eddie Bauer.
