Neutrogena announced the recall earlier this month.

saying that, “The Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask is safe for use by the general population when used once per day as directed. Reports of visual effects associated with the use of the Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask are rare, generally mild and transient.” But cautioned: “For a small subset of the population with certain underlying eye conditions, as well as for users taking medications which could enhance ocular photosensitivity, there is a theoretical risk of eye injury.

While the Australian Department of Health advises to stop using the mask, a spokesperson for the U.S. Food & Drug Administration *The New York Times* that they’re “aware of the recall” and looking into it. *Teen Vogue* has also reached out to Neutrogena and the FDA for comment.. And, if there is any “eye irritation or visual discomfort,” the brand advises to stop using and call a doctor.
