Apple has spent more than $6 billion on original TV shows and movies for its forthcoming Apple TV+ service, according to a Financial Times report on Monday.

Apple also sells Apple TV Channels, a related but separate product that enables users to individually subscribe to services like HBO and Showtime and bundles all of them together in its TV app.

Apple revealed TV+ during a star-studded event this March on its campus in Cupertino, California, confirming at least seven series for the service, including shows produced by Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey. However, no release date or price for the service has been disclosed by Apple. On Monday, Apple released a trailer for "The Morning Show," a drama that will air on Apple's streaming service. Apple paid more per episode for the Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon show than "Game of Thrones" cost in its final season, according to the report.Apple didn't immediately return a request for comment.

Well, at least Apple is paying Apple prices.

This streaming service “war” is getting ridiculous. How many streaming service subscriptions is the average person / household going to be having? Don’t the costs add up? Isn’t this the reason many cut the cable in the first place? At least Apple has its native captive clients.

Wow. Seems like they just set a bunch of cash on fire? Should've bought TSLA with that $?

They should’ve stayed out of the content space and focused on better ways to provide content that is already out there... they won’t beat Disney or Netflix

More tv Who cares.

Now I’m confused!

Yeah... and the economy is on the serious fritz. Let’s hold the news media to journalistic standards contra reductionist soundbites

Apple needs to make a laptop that doesnt thermal throttle to hell before getting into show biz

Good move on Apple's side. They need to catch up with Disney, Hulu and Netflix

Well they certainly have the money to give it a good shot but Disney has the expertise and production capabilities to crush them. It's a stupid move on Apples part.
