FA chief slams social media companies over racist abuse aimed at players

FA CHAIRMAN Greg Clarke pledged to take on the social media giants in an impassioned promise to fight football’s racism scourge.

England star Marcus Rashford, Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba are among the players to have received disgraceful racial abuse. The FA chairman added: “It is absolutely imperative that the FA works together with the Government to stop this happening. It is understood Clarke’s words left the Bulgarian delegation in the Wembley banqueting hall utterly bemused.

“But there must be far greater oversight of unscrupulous people who have taken over clubs for their own devices.”
