The dashcam of a Texas sheriff's deputy helped identify his alleged killer, who was arrested within hours of the fatal shooting at a business less than a mile from the scene, authorities said.

Deputy Sandeep Dhaliwal was an observant Sikh and gained national attention after he got permission to wear a turban as part of his Harris County Sheriff's Office uniform. He was conducting a traffic stop when he was shot in the head, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. The shooter fled the scene but authorities identified him by looking at Dhaliwal's dashcam video. They took a photo of the suspect from the dashcam and immediately got it out, Gonzalez said.

aww dash cam how cute

its william running cnn how lovely.

I hope they give him the chair.

You at CNN who support black lives matter can shut up about your support for a fallen officer. Where was your support while he was still alive?

I feel as though I lost someone close and yet I don’t even know him. It’s just sad 😞

Well that’s one piece of good news anyway.

So sad for his family.

So tragic !

Very evil not mentally ill, just evil.

💔🙏

This is awful. Rip

Normally I'm ambivalent towards the death penalty. However, with this heinous cop killer, Texas style justice is more than fair enough.

I hope the killer never sees the light of day again and may his punishment fit the crime.

realDonaldTrump this is the America that you created!!!
