Donald Trump will host the next G-7 summit at his Trump National Doral Miami resort

, his chief of staff Mick Mulvaney announced today. The president’s resort could use the business. The 800-acre property, which boasts four golf courses and a 643-room hotel, is Trump’s largest golf resort. It alsoDoral’s annual revenues have plummeted by an estimated 15% since 2016, from about $96 million to $81 million last year, according to aThe G-7 summit—which brings together the leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the U.K. and the U.S.

Mulvaney also brushed aside concerns about the president using the summit to burnish the reputation of his brand, saying Trump’s brand “is probably strong enough as it is.” Yet Doral’s own management has previously acknowledged the negative effect the Trump name has had on the property in recent years. During the 2016 presidential race, a top executive told a group of golf course appraisers that the resort’s business was suffering because Trump’s divisive campaign was pushing away customers. Historically, much of the resort’s clientele has come from the Northeast, where Trump is unpopular.
