Some empty storefronts on Fifth Avenue are getting dressed up for the holidays—a creative solution during a critical season for the retail industry

The Fifth Avenue Association, a business group that promotes New York City’s famous shopping destination, has installed New York-nostalgia themed holiday displays in the windows of four vacant stores

between 53rd and 56th streets. The group wanted to make sure shoppers strolling between Central Park and Rockefeller Center saw an uninterrupted stretch of seasonal cheer, said President Jerome Barth.
