PUTRAJAYA: It is normal to ask for an “offset” in business dealings provided the money is not taken for personal use, says the Prime Minister.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said even the government, when making purchases for equipment, would ask for an offset.“Whether you consider an offset as bribery, it is up to you, ” he told reporters after a session with Education Ministry staff on Thursday .“But if the money received is pocketed, then that is corruption, ” he pointed out.

It was reported that Airbus will pay a series of record-breaking settlements including nearly €1bil to the United Kingdom’s Serious Fraud Office after admitting to “endemic” levels of bribery across its international business. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Securities Commission have opened investigations into these corruption allegations, with the MACC saying it is in touch with the UK authorities.

The Securities Commission said it will look into the allegations and review all available evidence to determine if AirAsia and AirAsia X have breached any securities laws.

🤦🏻‍♂️

The PM, chedetofficial , should just stay out of commenting about companies like AA. Let MACC do their job. PM shouldn’t be seen condoning corruption of any sort

Damn..corrupted to the core.

It's normal for 3rd world countries. Ask Uganda, Zimbabwe, Eritrea. Vision2020 Kickbacks and bribes are your culture, not mine.

Better keep your mouth shut when this is not your expertise.

Now everybody can offsets 🤑

He is always 'choosing' the wrong people to support Maszlee - SyedSaddiq - Azminali - NajibRazak - Badawi - Zakir Naik - ... And now Tony And sure enough... it will all turn upside down kakibodek

chedetofficial The offset must be used reduce the purchase price. Not benefit them only AirAsia is not Tony's company -70% is public Para 56: There no relationship between AAB, AAX and Sports team ....The common denominators were AirAsia Executive 1 an AirAsia Executive 2.”

normal for the PM. been 30 years

No no....pls accept his statement, he is the PM. He knows best, he runs our country. Look at our blooming economy. Case close.

In business (speak from experience), we ask for DISCOUNT. Never OFFSETS.

The best part is now we know that F1 Team Lotus is part of an airline business ecosystem 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is the reason why Mahathir must go. He defines corruption as he sees it. Not according to global standard. What's next? Cronies are acceptable because proceeds not going into his own pocket? Backdoor gov is ok because it is 'people's' choice Enough is enough

It’s not normal to have the top two in a company alleged receiving bribes from a foreign company! chedetofficial
