Former Brazilian internationalwas ordered to remain in jail in Paraguay on Saturday after a judge ruled him a flight risk.

The former-Barcelona forward was arrested on Friday for attempting to enter Paraguay with a false passport two days earlier and spent Friday night in a police cell along with his brother and business manager Roberto Assis. The pair asked to be released into house arrest but that was rejected by the judge, who also dismissed Assis’s claims to have a heart problem because he showed no proof.

Judge Clara Ruiz Diaz said their alleged offence was a “serious one against the interests of the Paraguayan state”.Under Paraguayan law, officials now have six months to complete their investigation but Ronaldinho’s lawyers, who called the decision “incredible,” are expected to present an appeal in the coming days.Saturday’s courtroom drama came after an astonishing four days that began on Wednesday when the duo attempted to enter Paraguay with doctored passports.

They were detained but a prosecutor who believed they were tricked into taking the fake documents recommended they be released after receiving an alternative punishment such as paying a fine to charity. This entry was posted on 08 Mar 2020,05:30AM at 5:30 AM and is filed under

If it was South Africa's court he & his brother would've been on free bail and made a run for it like Sam Mshengu Tshabalala. Serious countries don't play when coming to foreigners making a mockery of their laws it matters not if you're from the same continent.

Oh no, why did he do such, one of my favorite players.😭

Where was his magic, when he committed a crime?

Those who dont know this pure class, we have an obligation to school. Surely, the man cant be arrested over a mere fake passport. No maan!

Hayi maan, this should be stopped. Where is ubuntu from these Paraguayans!? The guy is the only magician of football we know in our times. I feel hurt! 😪😪😭

Fake passport claims

He made he's bed , might as well sleep on it.

But why did he do it though?

Ebana why
