Sean Christie exits as MGM’s president of events and nightlife

MGM Resorts' president of events and nightlifewill leave the company at the end of the month. The move is not related to the current coronavirus pandemic, which has closed MGM's properties in Las Vegas since Nevada went into lockdown last week, and comes after Christie says he informed MGM leadership in February that he wished to transition out of the company.

"During this unprecedented and challenging time, I am wishing all the best to the amazing Events and Nightlife team and the entire company," Christie said in a Facebook post Friday ."I have nothing but appreciation and gratitude for everyone at MGM Resorts. I am confident that this incredible company, industry, city and world will come back stronger than ever."

Christie served as the president of events and nightlife for MGM Resorts in Las Vegas for just over two years. During his time with MGM, Christie had oversight of all owned and leased day and nightlife venues and provide strategic direction around special events programming, including Hakkasan Nightclub.

Prior to that, Christie worked for more than a decade in leadership positions at Wynn Las Vegas and Wynn Resorts. Christie began his career in nightlife and hospitality in 1993 working for the Lyons Group in Boston. He moved to Las Vegas in 2000, just as nightlife was blossoming into one of the city’s main attractions and helped establish a number of premier nightlife and entertainment venues, setting the stage for the explosive growth that would follow.

"I look forward to sharing my new plans with everyone at a more appropriate time," Christie added in the post."Until then, hold your loved ones close, check in on your friends and family, wash your hands and stay safe."reached out to MGM Resorts to for comment, but has not received a response at time of publishing.
